CITIZENS FOR TRUTH LABELS GARCETTI REPORT A "WHITEWASH"; DECRIES WITHHOLDING OF KEY EVIDENCE

Citizens for Truth has labeled the report on the assassination of Bill Gates by the Los Angeles County District Attorney a "whitewash." The report, released April 19, purports to explain the murder of Gates and the subsequent killing of a police officer and the alleged assassin, Alek Hidell.

"The assassination of Bill Gates can now be called officially unsolved," said Debra Meagher, co-president of Citizens for Truth. "It's obvious from the opening pages of this tiny report that it is interested in doing nothing except clearing the LAPD of misconduct charges and villifying the alleged assassin. The D.A.'s report is a whitewash, pure and simple."

The Garcetti Report comes in two versions--one is available to the public and contains a brief summary of the assassination and related events. The other is sealed "indefinitely" and contains the underlying evidence upon which the report's conclusions are based.

"This report raises more questions than it answers," said David James, co-president of Citizens for Truth. "I've got more information sitting on my hard drive, collected from the Web, than is available from the public form of this report."

Citizens for Truth demands the immediate release of the rest of the report and all other sealed documents.
